Stuck Spirits 101: How Helping Them Cross Over Helps You
Watch the detailed video here:
Today we’re diving into a big topic that blends psychology and spirituality: stuck spirits — who they are, why they get stuck, and how helping them cross over can actually transform your life right now.
This is a basic 101 introduction. I could talk for hours about this (and often do). So if you have questions, leave a comment or reach out — because this is work that changes lives on both sides of the veil.
Let’s begin with the basics.
Who (or What) Are Stuck Spirits?
Let’s keep this super simple. We’ll define a few key terms first.
Spirit: This is your personality from one lifetime — your memories, feelings, quirks, and ego. When someone dies, this personality layer sometimes lingers.
Soul: Picture a disco ball. The soul is the whole disco ball — all your lifetimes together. The spirit is one light on that ball. Every light (lifetime) shines simultaneously, so past lives are actually parallel lives happening all at once.
Ghost: A ghost is like an echo — a fragmented personality looping through a memory or trauma, repeating old pain.
A stuck spirit is when that personality/ego layer — that single light on the disco ball — refuses or can’t move on after death.
Movies love to call all of this “ghosts,” but I don’t use that term because “ghost” comes with fear-based baggage. When you think “ghost,” you think haunting. When you think stuck spirit, you think healing. See the difference?
Helping a stuck spirit cross over isn’t exorcism — it’s therapy for the dead.
How to Recognize a Stuck Spirit
You might sense a stuck spirit if:
A mediumship reading feels ego-based — the spirit sounds judgmental, self-centered, or stuck on repeat.
You keep having dreams or nudges about a loved one, but no clear message ever comes through.
You feel heaviness or energy loops in a home, land, or relationship that doesn’t feel “yours.”
Sometimes, silence is the clue. If a passed loved one has never reached out energetically, it might be because they can’t — they’re still looping in fear, shame, or regret.
Why Do Spirits Get Stuck?
Short answer? The same reasons we get stuck in life.
Guilt, shame, or fear. They believe, “I’m not worthy,” “I did something terrible,” or “I’ll be punished.” That emotional weight anchors them in 3D energy.
Unprocessed trauma. Death by violence, accidents, or sudden trauma can trap the spirit in the emotional residue of the event.
Unfulfilled contracts. When the soul planned to experience or complete something in that life but didn’t, the spirit can linger. This often happens with suicide or unexpected early death — the energy of “unfinished business” keeps them tethered.
Attachment. They cling to loved ones, their identity, or even a role — “I can’t leave, who will take care of them?” The ego holds on to what it knows.
So, why don’t angels just come scoop them up?
Because angels don’t experience time like we do. To them, a thousand years is a blink. Eventually, all spirits return to Source… but “eventually” could mean centuries in human time.
And loved ones in spirit can’t always help because the stuck spirit might not recognize or trust them.
My grandma crossed easily when she passed, but her brother didn’t. When I asked her why she couldn’t help him, she said:
“He doesn’t believe me.”
He felt unworthy of God — terrified of judgment. Seeing her radiant only made him feel worse. He was stuck in fear, guilt, shame.
That’s where I come in. As a trauma therapist, I can meet them where they are emotionally — with compassion, not spiritual bypassing. They don’t need someone to tell them to “go to the light.” They need someone who understands pain.
Why Crossing Stuck Spirits Matters
Helping stuck spirits cross does a few powerful things:
Frees the soul. The spirit completes its journey and rejoins the disco ball — able to reincarnate, evolve, and grow.
Frees the living. The energetic imprints left behind — hauntings, heavy family patterns, ancestral trauma — begin to dissolve.
I once crossed an entire town’s worth of spirits who had stayed silent while injustice occurred. Generations later, their descendants struggled with speaking up. After the crossing, that lineage began finding their voices — at work, in relationships, in daily life.
That’s not coincidence. That’s energetic evolution.
Transforms trauma into purpose. The energy released can later return as courage, activism, or leadership in future lives.
For example, I helped cross 1800s railroad workers who died from mistreatment and abuse. That energy of oppression transformed into future souls coming back as advocates for fair labor and justice. Crossing them literally seeded the collective with more light.
That’s how powerful this work is — it heals the past and rewires the future.
Where Do Stuck Spirits Hang Out?
Contrary to movies — it’s not always cemeteries and creepy basements.
I find them most often:
On traumatized land — battlefields, mass graves, prisons, mines, or epidemic sites.
In forgotten places — sealed caves, abandoned hospitals, old schools, places history tries to erase.
In the astral realm — looping in grief or guilt, replaying their final moments over and over.
They also find me — in dreams, during readings, through clients. My energy acts like a beacon — a neon “Open for Business” sign for the lost and weary.
That’s how I get called to do large-scale crossings, like the one at the smallpox caves in Montana — entire groups of souls waiting to be freed.
What I Actually Do During a Crossing
This is where my worlds — therapy, energy work, and spirit communication — merge.
My process (simplified) looks like this:
Connect in the Akashic Records. I open sacred space and connect to the spirit in the 4D astral plane.
Listen. I ask what’s keeping them stuck. They often show me images — their death moment, their pain, or the person they can’t leave.
Therapy for the spirit. We process guilt, fear, shame, regret — the same emotions I help my living clients move through.
Open the portal. Using light language, prayer, and pure unconditional love, I hold open the path of light. Judgment closes doors. Compassion opens them.
Escort and integrate. I don’t push — I walk beside. Once they cross, I seal the space and bless the land or environment.
This is sacred, emotional work — and not everyone is meant to do it. It requires a deep understanding of trauma, emotional regulation, and energetic boundaries.
What You Can Do
If you suspect a loved one might be stuck — or if weird spiritual activity is happening in your home — start with love, not fear.
Speak firmly but compassionately:
“You’re safe to go. You can cross now. This is my space and I only welcome light here.”Call in your higher power — God, Source, angels, ancestors — to guide them.
Give them permission to reach out after crossing — in dreams, songs, or signs of peace.
If that feels out of your comfort zone, you can ask a professional (like me!) to do a remote spirit crossing or land clearing. I can check if a loved one has crossed, cross them if needed, and clear the residual energy — those ghostly trauma echoes left behind.
And the most important thing?
Don’t become a stuck spirit yourself.
If you died today, what would hold you back?
Unfinished business? Regrets? Anger? Shame?
Heal it now.
Forgive yourself now.
Say what needs to be said now.
Do the work in this lifetime so you don’t spend centuries floating around replaying your trauma. Seriously — nobody wants that.
If you need help, find a therapist or healer who resonates with you. I offer spiritual therapy and coaching for this exact reason — to help you clear the emotional weight that keeps souls stuck long after the body’s gone.
When Did Stuck Spirits Become So Common?
Short answer: fear culture.
Historically, three big things changed our relationship with death:
Fear-based religion. People were taught to fear judgment and hellfire. That fear at death can literally anchor a spirit.
Loss of rituals. Many cultures had ceremonies to guide the soul safely to the other side. As those faded, so did the energetic support.
Commercialized death. We’ve turned grief into a transaction. “Show your love with the most expensive coffin.” (Seriously? No.)
Death used to be sacred. Now it’s sterile, avoided, or wrapped in fear. No wonder so many spirits struggle to let go.
In my work, I’ve noticed that in ancient or galactic timelines, I don’t find stuck spirits — just soul fragments from trauma. The concept of being “stuck” seems very Earth-specific, tied to our dense emotional field and cultural beliefs about sin, worthiness, and punishment.
How Helping Stuck Spirits Helps You
Now for my favorite part — the ripple effect.
Helping stuck spirits cross doesn’t just heal them. It heals you.
Here’s how:
Clears family patterns. That heaviness you’ve carried for generations? Sometimes it’s a stuck ancestor. Free them, and your lineage shifts.
Lifts heavy energy. Your home, body, and relationships feel lighter and calmer.
Improves guidance. Once crossed, spirits can become clear, loving guides — no longer replaying their trauma.
Heals past-life wounds. Sometimes, the “stuck spirit” is a version of you from another lifetime. Crossing that part of yourself releases deep emotional or physical blocks in this life.
Restores your vitality. When your energy isn’t tied to someone else’s pain, you have more room for joy, creativity, and purpose.
I’ll share a personal story.
In the Akashic Records, I found a past-life version of me — a woman who died suddenly on her one-year wedding anniversary. She was angry, heartbroken, and refused to move on. Her belief was:
“Love equals loss. Love equals pain.”
That belief was bleeding into this lifetime. After a heartbreak, I told myself, “I’ll just stay single with my cats forever.” (No offense to cats — they’re great.)
When I finally crossed that past self, I cried like a toddler — full release. Afterward, I started dreaming of dancing with a man — feeling joy, butterflies, hope. My soul was reminding me:
“Love is beautiful too.”
Crossing that stuck spirit didn’t just heal the past — it reopened my heart in the present.
That’s the magic of this work. It’s not spooky; it’s profoundly human.
The Bigger Picture
Stuck spirits aren’t villains. They’re wounded fragments of the soul — scared, ashamed, or confused.
Helping them cross is an act of compassion, not exorcism. It’s therapy for the soul, closure for the lineage, and light for the collective.
Every time we help a spirit cross, we free a piece of humanity’s collective trauma grid. The veil gets thinner — not because the world is getting darker, but because more light is coming in.
Final Thoughts
If this topic resonates with you, or you feel repeating patterns and blocks in your life that just won’t budge — it might not all be yours. It could be ancestral, past-life, or energetic residue from stuck spirits connected to your soul line.
That’s where I come in.
Through my Akashic Soul Reading & Healing Bundle, I look at the full soul picture — find where the energy’s still looping, heal the trauma in the records, and cross any stuck aspects of the self that need release.
Then I seal it all with Akashic Reiki — because closure deserves peace.
Helping stuck spirits cross over isn’t about chasing ghosts. It’s about restoring wholeness — for them, for you, for all of us.
And remember:
Heal your shit now.
You don’t need to wait until you’re dead to find peace.
